Happy St. Patrick's Day! We know you are deep in the personal tax season, but we thought we'd connect with a quick update email for you.

Intro to Non-Resident Taxation for T1 Preparers

Our colleague, Jeff Fortin, CA (AB, CAN), CPA (IL, USA), has recently developed an introductory webinar on non-resident taxation for T1 preparers. After this webinar, your T1 preparers will be able to identify potential residency issues that may arise. Jeff is a tax practitioner that focuses on Canada-U.S. cross border and international taxation matters, planning, and compliance (both individual and corporate). With Jeff as our speaker, we are proud to host a 30-minute "lunch and learn" and 10-minute Q&A on this topic for our subscribers (or "coffee and learn" for our friends here in Western Canada). The webinar will be next Wednesday, March 23, at 12pm ET. Feel free to share this link to your staff or colleagues.

Practice Tips

Last month, we mentioned that we were updating our personal tax checklist for the 2021 season. We are happy to announce the 2021 checklist is now available to you as a free template in JotForm: https://www.jotform.com/form-templates/ur/2021-personal-income-tax-return-checklist

Feel free to use the form however you see fit. The JotForm checklists really shine with how easy they are to share, whether by email or by embedding the checklist right into your website. For our firm, it is very convenient to receive our clients' submissions right in our general inbox. For more information about the checklist and how to use it, please see our February 2022 blog here.
